James King

I really love the feedback. Having someone draw on the frames in order to explain what they mean is really helpful. I truly feel like I’m able to improve with each iteration of my work. Seeing someone else’s workflow is also really helpful.

James is extremely helpful with his class demos and weekly critiques. I can definitely tell that he wants the best for his students and cares for their success in the class and with their animations. He’s always willing to answer questions or stay in class longer to finish his demos!

I personally love James King’s insight to the fundamental core of the animation assignments. I’m inspired by the fact that his knowledge and passion is at such a high level. It’s contagious to want to strive to become better at animation, especially with a mentor like James King. Showing examples of various animation methods, and giving reasons why he chooses a certain way to execute an animation is stellar. Master of the graph editor. He is kind and takes time to help each student.

I like the fact that he takes time during the Q&A to answer our questions, and shows us if we need visual explanations. He also tells us to not hesitate to manifest ourselves if we have other questions about what he shows us, and also if we want him to repeat some things. For the eCritiques, I love the fact that he does them in a positive way, telling that what I’ve done is pretty cool and then adding things to ameliorate with kindness ! It makes me wanna do more and without stress ! 😀

James is really fantastic. He is able to talk to every student individually and help that out while simultaneously having everything he says be applicable to everyone’s learning. He gives great demonstrations each week breaking down different animation concepts. Every week I am excited to work on my shot after the live lecture.

I think James is a wonderful teacher and an amazing animator. The Q&A sessions are really helpful and he takes time with everyone so that no one has any doubts on how to approach any assignment. I’m really enjoying this term with him.

James is great! He always answers your questions with informative information and he’s very encouraging. His eCritiques are the best. He always has great critiques whether it’s on your poses or your animation.

I’m really learning a lot from everything James is talking about in class and in the critiques. I’m understanding a lot of the concepts so much better now and have been noticing in my own work outside of class how some of these tips and tricks are getting ingrained in my workflow and making it better. I have so much more to go, we all do, but every week I’m feeling more and more confident after listening to what he is talking about.
