What Jean-Denis’ Students are Saying
JD's Approach to Mentoring Basically Saved Me
I didn’t start strong with the first assignment of AN03 which was a great concern. JD’s approach to mentoring basically saved me because I felt like giving up after the first assignment. If it wasn’t for his video content and advice I don’t I would have been able to continue. JD has been very accommodating of the time difference which has been very difficult for me to manage along with full time work. 10/10 JD. His encouraging words and videos have been invaluable. Excellent mentor!
Very Informative and Easy to Understand
JD has been one of my favorite mentors. His critiques are very informative and easy to understand. His lectures are really fun. He makes sure everyone has a chance to speak if they want to. I’ve learned so much about the industry and how to improve my animation. I would recommend anybody take his class.
A Very Nice and Sympathetic Dude
JD is a very nice and sympathetic dude. I like the Q&As and even though I’m not at all talkative, I always feel comfortable at the Q&As. Thanks to JD I got to know more about the industry itself and how everything really works. What to look for and how to act professional. To summarize it, I think JD is a great mentor and I loved having his guidance.
Incredibly Motivating on a Personal Level
Jean-Denis was incredible, his experience and passion for animation are shown at all times, whether it’s through teaching, talking about the industry, or talking about mental and physical health. He is incredibly motivating on a personal level as well as an animation level. He is the type of animator and person I want to emulate and would gladly take his class again if I could.
Always Excited to Answer Our Questions
JD has a great personality and his insight about the industry is extremely helpful. His Q&A is always interesting, and he keeps things real and gives us tips about how the industry functions. He also focuses mainly on acting and gives us good acting references and why it is working well, which is helpful in later classes. During class, he is always excited to answer our questions whether it is about the industry or our shot. His e-critiques are straight to the point helping us better our shots.
Definitely Recommend Taking His Class
JD has helped propel my work really far. His awesome sense of humor always makes the critiques lively and fun to be a part of. He has an awesome sense of composition and has really helped my shots a lot in the sense of clarity and staging. Has a ton of industry experience and knows the ins and outs of how things work which always translates to sound and honest advice. Definitely recommend taking his class.
His Humor and Candor is Truly Unique
Jean-Denis Haas’ Q&A sessions are fantastic, his humor and candor is truly unique. He has shared some amazing insights to the nature of the animation industry. Both upsides and downsides on what we can expect, once we graduate. Will definitely seek to have him as a mentor again in the near future.
A Master of Animation
He is a master of animation and I really respect his job and the way he has to teach. The eCritiques are short and specific. It’s always funny to hear him talking about his experience in the animation industry. Awesome person and teacher. 🙂
