My mentor Richard was incredible and you can really tell he was passionate about all of us succeeding and trying to get all of us to excel and push ourselves and grow.

My mentor. Rich is definitely one of if not the best mentor I’ve had so far. His approach to lectures, critiques and teaching helped me improve a lot this session.

I really really loved having you as a mentor. I could really feel that you want us to succeed and not just move on to the next class and you are very genuine, I respect that a lot. It makes us want to perform as best we can. Thanks also for being available.

Rich takes the time to pull up class work and share how to approach issues he knows will arise during the week. He makes sure everyone in the class has the chance to ask questions and is very thoughtful and candid in his responses. He is tough and thorough with his critique. Rich brings decades of experience as an animator and mentor to the class; he leads with clear, delineated expectations aimed at providing us with the greatest chance at success. He often goes beyond what is expected. Thanks!

Rich is one of the best mentors I’ve ever had. He’s tough, but fair. He expects a lot from his students but never asks for anything unreasonable. His critiques are clear and to the point and have made my work substantially better. I’m an AM grad who decided to retake class 3 and it’s been a great experience thanks to Rich. He’s the kind of mentor who makes me want to take the time to be a better animator.

My mentor has been absolutely amazing. Rich goes into all the fine details for the eCritiques and the Q&A sessions. I love that he actually opens up our Maya scenes and shows us how to fix any issues we’re having or how he would approach it. It gives us a better understanding of how to think when we are approaching our scenes. I really learned a lot from him.

Rich has made a huge difference for me. He’s very specific and thorough in his critiques, but where previous mentors made the feedback feel overwhelming, Rich made it feel attainable. He’s tough but encouraging and I’m a much better animator now than I was at the beginning of the term. I’ve found his knowledge on the industry equally useful and I now have a much better sense of what it’s like out there. I would highly recommend him to other students.

Rich has been brutally honest with me and has pushed me and everyone else in the class to be as good as they can. He has pushed me harder than any other mentor and I can feel myself improving each week under his guidance.
