Chadd Ferron

Chadd always reviews our work very quickly. His feedback using our Maya files is extremely informative and helpful. He always makes suggestions that further improves our work through his explanations and guidance. I look forward to our weekly Q&As. Not only does he teach us the best way to work in Maya but he also explains his working life in the industry which is very informative and inspiring.

I think Chadd is great with his students – he is very diligent both during Q&A’s and eCritiques. He has shared lots of useful information about animation as a craft and industry.

Not only is he detailed in his lectures, but he’s detailed in his eCritiques as well. I’ve learned so much from him these past several weeks. Having him as a mentor has definitely made me a better animator!

Aside from being very kind and informative during class, Chadd has gone above and beyond in the eCritiques. The breakdowns are very clear and he is very diligent in not only finding issues with the animation, but providing suggestions as to how to fix it and push the animation in a better direction. Chadd has really made me feel my time and money has been put to good use and a great investment during my time at Animation Mentor!

I’m glad I chose him as a mentor because I feel I’m getting what I signed up for. I like the challenges he provides and I constantly want to rise to those challenges. I want someone to be honest with me about my work, not just tell me what is going well. I think he balances being thoughtful and thorough in his responses, with giving specific pointers!!

Chadd has some fantastic insight into the industry and animation. His critiques are clear and to the point, and quite useful for identifying where to head to next with a shot.

I love hearing and seeing how Chadd performed and executed certain scenes in some of my favorite movies. He’s very experienced, friendly, and artistic. He may not be as technical as some of the other mentors I have had, but it’s nice to hear the artistry that goes into animation. It’s something I will never forget, and will try to apply in the future.

This is my first time taking an AM course and I can confidently say he is the best mentor I’ve had in any other college/university. He explains the fundamentals of animation very clearly, demos in every class with his own scenes, and critiques in a direct and concise way that I can easily understand!
